CAR DISPLAY AND EVENING CAVALCADE ON WEDNESDAY 17TH AUGUST 2011 This was the 2nd year of holding this event which proved to be very successful desipte the new venue. The event was held in the back car park of Millbrook Lodge Hotel with over 80 cars and 6 lorries taking part. The club managed to locate Jimmy Peak's mini which he used to rallycross and bought it at the end of June and this was also on display. Everyone had a chance to view all the vehicles on display before going for a short drive organised by Michael Dickson. Everyone enjoyed supper on their return. We would like to thank Howell House Bakery for donating the pastry, Millbrook Lodge Hotel for the use of their premises and the tea and sandwiches. A big thank you to all who attended this event and gave so generously and a total of £830 was raised for our charities. CAR RUN ON WEDNESDAY 6TH JULY 2011 Isobel Peak organised this event which started at Millbrook Lodge Hotel. Around 25 cars left for a leisurely drive through the Co. Down countryside to Castlewellan Forest Park. At the park some members decided to go for a walk through the maze which was great fun. After this we made our way back to Millbrook for supper. A total of £240 was raised for our charities and a big thank you to everyone who supported this event.
CLASSIC CHARITY MULTI-VENUE AUTOTEST ON FRIDAY 24TH JUNE 2011 In contrast to the lovely sunny evening we had on 2nd June for our closed to club autotest we had a very wet night for the charity event. Despite the weather 14 competitors took part over five different venues with the overall winner being James Wilson. The evening was finished off with supper in Millbrook Lodge Hotel. A total of £300 was raised for "The Paul Ward" Royal Victoria Hospital and we would like to thank all those who took part and to all the marshals for standing out on such a wet evening.
CLUB AUTOTEST AT MILLBROOK LODGE HOTEL ON THURSDAY 2ND JUNE 2011 On a lovely sunny evening 24 competitors signed up for this event. They completed two tests three times each and then these two tests were joined together for the final run of the evening and everyone thoroughly enjoyed the night. We would like to thank all marshals and the management and staff of Millbrook Lodge Hotel for the use of their facilities.
CAR SHOW IN DONARD PARK, NEWCASTLE ON SUNDAY 8TH MAY 2011 On a bright but breezy day 124 cars entered this our annual show. A great day was had by all. Trophies were awarded for the following classes:- Capri Club - T. Keenan; South Down Mini Club - Sam Gribben; MINI in NI - Tony O'Neill; Downe Old Car Club - Des Martin; Pre 70 - Drew Hull; Pre 80 - D. Hamilton; Pre 90 - Colin McGimpsey; Up to 1998 - Stefan Allen; Rally Car - Jonathan Miskelly; Modified Car - Gerald McGrillen and finally Peak Performance Motor Club - Isobel Peak. Thank you to everyone who supported this event and hopefully we will see you all next year. Thank you to all club workers for all their hard work in making this another successful day.
TREASURE HUNT & ROAST PIG ON A SPIT BBQ On Friday 15th April 35 cars set off from Millbrook Lodge Hotel for a treasure hunt round the Ballynahinch area finishing at Slieve Croob Flying Club for the BBQ. Many people taking part had never done a treasure hunt before and they said it was a brilliant night's craic. Others commented that this was a really great family fun night. Thanks goes to Susan Conn for all her time spent in drawing up the treasure hunt; Andrew Mulholland's Butchers for supplying the food for BBQ; the Flying Club for the use of their premises and finally to anyone who supplied prizes for the raffle. The money raised for charity was £394.00 and thank you to everyone who supported this event.
APRIL FOOLS' SCATTER RALLY FRIDAY 1ST APRIL 2011 Our first attempt at holding a scatter rally took place on Friday 1st April at 7.30 pm. 11 cars registered for the event. Each crew was given a sequence of grid references to plot and they then had to find up to 75% of the clues within two hours. Everyone had a great night and the following crews finished in the top 3. 1st - Brian, Ruth and Jack McCurry 2nd - Dennis and Victoria McMullan 3rd - Jim and Raymond Wilson A big thank you goes to Brendan Mullan and Sam Baird for all the hard work involved in organising this event. Thanks also to the Manager and staff of Millbrook Lodge Hotel for the use of the room and finally thank you to all competitors for taking part.
DINNER DANCE AND PRIZEGIVING 22ND JANAURY 2011 Our Dinner Dance was held in the Spa Golf Club were we all enjoyed a lovely meal and music was provided by Ivor Greer. After the meal we made cheque presentations to our 2010 charities for £750 each and these were Erne Search & Recovery, Alzheimers Society and Friends of Cancer Centre. The prizegiving then took place for our 2010 Autotest Challenge with the President of the club Isobel Peak sponsoring the two Jim Peak Memorial Trophies

AUTOTEST 22ND JANUARY 2011 Our first autotest of the year took place on 22nd January 2011 at Tony Patterson's yard. This was the first round of our club challenge and 25 competitors took part including ladies, beginners and juniors. We had 2 tests which were completed 3 times each and then these were joined together for the last test. Everyone enjoyed a great day with the following winning their classes - Ladies:- Ruth McCurry; Beginners:- Alan McKinstry; Juniors:- Josh Douglas; Class 3 Front Engine FWD, Rear Engine RWD:- James Wilson; Class 4 Front Engine RWD:- Michael Reid and the overall winner was Harold Hassard. We would like to thank Tony Patterson for the use of his yard and also the office for signing on etc. You can find some photos of the event in the gallery section of the website.
CAR RUN ON 28TH NOVEMBER 2010 Despite the frost and snow 10 cars set off from Millbrook Lodge Hotel and headed through Dromara, Rathfriland, Burren and on to Annent's Garden Centre in Warrenpoint. We all enjoyed lunch in the Sweet Pea Cafe and would like to thank all the staff for their hospitality. Unfortunately, the Garden Centre did not open due all the frost as they said the paths etc were all too dangerous. We then left and took a leisurely drive back via Hilltown, Castlewellan, Annsborough to Ballynahinch Flying Club at Slieve Croob. The men took a stroll round the hangers looking at the various light aircraft. They then proceeded to prepare a barbeque which was enjoyed by all. We held a small auction to raise some funds for the Flying Club. A big thank to Ballynahinch Flying Club for allowing us to see round the hangers and for the use of their club house.
CHARITY ROAD RUN AND STATIC DISPLAY We held a very successful charity road run and static display on 18th August 2010 at Ballynahinch Rugby Club. A total of 72 cars registered for this event with £676.87 being raised for charity and this money will be handed over at our dinner dance on 22nd January 2011 together with other money raised throughout the year. We would like to take this opportunity to apologise for the congestion which was caused at the Rugby Club due to a double booking being made which was totally out of our control. The Rugby Club have apologised to us for this.
JIMMY PEAK MULTIVENUE AUTOTEST On Saturday 18th September the above event took place on a very wet day. Despite the weather 22 competitors completed 14 tests at the following venues:- Tim Martin's at Carricknaveagh Road; Tony Patterson's, Ballynahinch Road; Boo McCurry's, Demense Road; Colin Kane's, Ballymacarn Road; Ballynahinch Building Supplies, Riverside Road and Bill Reid's, Magheraknock Road. The overall winner of the event was Harold Hassard. We would like to thank all land owner's for allowing us to use their premises and also to all those who marshalled on the day.
